Yesterday I finished reading "A Game of Thrones" - part of George R.R. Martin A Song of Ice and Fire saga. I'm utterly in love with it and utterly in despair, because I don't have the next book from series. XD Eh, I wish it'd be available in my town, but everything I can do is wish, because it's not. It's really annoying not being able to even buy a book you want when it's not the newest part of "Princess Diaries" or something popular like that.

I guess that I'll have to buy it via some e-shop or wait a bit and see if going to shopping centre will be a part of our planned class tour to Warsaw (I hope so).

All neat remarks aside - I want, nope, I yearn for "A Clash of Kings" here and now, damnit. Eh.

As for the book itself... The story is completely gorgeous, really complex but not discouraging because of that and utterly absorbing. And characters... the characters are really humane. They all have good and bad sides. And the best thing is that thanks to narration shifting from chara to chara your opinion about character can change radically in the blink of en eye. In one second you can think that someone is an utter bastard, then in another that maybe he's not that bad, only to be proven wrong in the next moment (or, should I rather say, chapter;). It not only makes characters more interesting and surprising, but does it in completely believable way (because it's not that character all of sudden changes his worldview, but you just get to know more about them). Ah, and I suggest you to forget about thinking that good characters ought to win, only because they're good, noble etc. It doesn't work like that here.

I quite like fantasy and works akin to it, but, no matter how you look, I'm not a big fan. I read some fantasy books, even quite often, but I'm not usually engrossed in them too much. I bought "A Game of Thrones" knowing nearly nothing about the story, relying only on my friend's (Saya, I'm talking about you;) recommendation. I was expecting something good, but this turned out to be beyond any expectations that I might have had. Never once while reading had I regretted buying it.

Putting it shortly - if you don't know A Song of Ice and Fire yet and you're looking for a really good read, "A Game of Thrones" should be your natural choice. ;)

If I knew English a little better, I'd write a bit more, but I suppose that'll have to do. XD
